Translations In-Game

I've seen this type of system implemented on PartyServer, and I'm pretty sure with the way Plan B's account system (MySQL Database) works, this can be added.

A user would be able to set a language for their account (via In-Game or Control Panel), and they would be able to see everything in that language.

It would benefit this community, because there are many players that are unable to speak English at a perfect level, which gives them a disadvantage in understand the meaning of commands ingame and rules especially.


As for taking care of the translations, I propose a community effort in helping out with that.

Starting with the languages that are the biggest priority on this server.
Spanish, Hindi, Arabic, and French.

People who are super fluent in these languages would work with other fluent speakers, or by themselves and publish translations of commands, that we would write out in English on a topic to be translated.

People who helped translate, can be rewarded in some way that we would figure out.


Optional, we can add something that detects the country of a player who joins and sets that as their default language (if they aren't registered)

It's a very good suggestion. There are some includes that allow to script different versions of a text and sends the player the one matching the language they have chosen. I don't know how many sentences or texts PTP gamemode has, but probably a few hundreds. Translators aren't a problem, because we have native speakers of almost any major language you can think of. But still, Jonne would have to gather all those translations and place them in the correct place of the script, and that's work for one person.
It could be done little by little, for example starting by "/rules", "/duty" and "/ptp". Maybe "/faq" in a near future.
Like Parachute, I'm willing to translate anything to Spanish

It would take time rewriting every server sided message to multiple languages. I think some languages aren't nesecassary to add,like Hindi, most indians who play here can understand English etc. You'll have to also sort out what messages you want to change and which not .

Yea but there are benefits. Hindi should be added, because I've seen many Indians incompatible of speaking English and using Hindi 24/7. And then there are players from your neighboring countries that would benefit from it at as well.
