Last minute escape of the president
« on: August 08, 2016, 12:46:38 am »
A lot of president's tend to either camp somewhere or drive around the entire map on a nrg bike or fast car. They wont deviate from their paths (they always use) and it is very likely and predictable that they will survive till the end.

But what if in the last 2 minutes some 'escape location' will be selected (randomly determined out of 8 or so predetermined locations)? The president has to make it to the escape area and stop driving circles or camping. Terrorists will have a last opportunity to kill the president. Because the location is not known in advance, the terrorists can not gather there until the end, so they wont be able to camp at the escape location.

Is it worth testing this idea in the beta server? Hope to hear people's opinion on this.

As infuriating as it may be for terrorists when the President is just driving in circles (I assume you're referring mainly to the LV map) - it is part and parcel of the game mode. It is simply a tactic that you have to adapt to.

- If they are constantly circling the highway (LV/NSA) then either team up with someone else and cut them off further up the road where they can easily shoot their tyres (if they're even just half decent). If that's not the case there is an abundance of vehicles that can match the speed of an NRG or fast cars.
- Improve your skills on a rustler. Circling round the highway or even in the city streets won't protect you from a skilled pilot (take YoMama as an example) unless you incorporate some stunts and/or navigate cleverly. Even someone slightly above average piloting a rustler can do significant damage.
- There is nothing wrong with "camping" while President. It's a tactic that has been used from the start. If they are camping as a team then gather some terrorists together and attack, it's worked before.
- The idea of a "escape location" has too many cons and situations which would nearly always favour the terrorists.
Scenario: President is camping at a location and then is told to go to X location. Except now terrorists are blocking his way out of the camping spot and the rest are blocking the route to X. The President will inevitably be killed or lose due to not being able to reach X.
Camping helps to build the teamwork of the defence teams while also forcing the terrorists to utilise their team thus benefiting the game mode as a whole.

If you want this to happen, then the terrorists would camp near that "escape zone" of the President

It won't happen if the location is unknown until the end.

Im not against camping or driving circles (everybody does it including me) but it can give the game that final twist in the last 2 minutes. Image the president holding itself up in area 51. Securities are only waiting to shoot terrorists and not hunting for them.

Security's job isn't to hunt terrorists - it is to stay with the President. Cops however are free to roam and kill terrorists at will (as long as it is within the rules). Defence V Terrorists at Area 51 when it's constantly bombarded with terrorists is very difficult to defend against and if done well is easy to penetrate through.

It's better to improve the current game play with small modifications to keep it modernised/up to date. The basic concept of PTP is what makes it great - there's no need to over-complicate it.
