StarCraft eSports, both BroodWar and SC II, are ones of the sports that I really enjoy watching. I'm looking forward to follow WCS Grand Finals which will, as always, take place during BlizzCon somewhen in October and/or November. It should be really epic, especially because it will be the first BlizzCon after LotV release.  :D WESG (https://wesg.starladder.com/en/sc2) is a greatest commercial championship which is taking place right now, though I don't have time to follow it, and, honestly, it isn't that interesting during regional qualifications.

I wonder if anyone follows or plays StarCraft here? I am protoss player in BroodWar and zerg player in StarCraft II, though I play very rarely now, and I am still badly used to LotV complicated mechanics. ;D

I played Protoss in Brood War, then switched to Terran in SCII :D

I hardly play anymore, got no time and I got kinda bored of it. What I especially don't like is that SCII eSports scene is slowly dying, in a way... :/

Ha-ha, just take a picture of the typical PTP cop army and write there: "Carrier has arrived".

Yeah, for some reason people are often complaining that SC e-sports scene is dead... But, well, it doesn't disturb me to follow it and enjoy some epic games. Maybe it isn't that big and popular as LoL or DotA scene, idk, but it isn't dead. ;D

I played Protoss in Brood War, then switched to Terran in SCII :D
Wow, nice to know! I would play protoss in SC II too, but the game is WAY too grotesque and I can't look at protoss without laughing, especially in LotV. That's one of the reasons I prefer BroodWar btw (and I don't really like no other Blizzard games starting from WarCraft III). SC II is too grotesque, and its plot is of too low quality, containing too many cliches.
I hardly play anymore, got no time and I got kinda bored of it.
Yeah, pretty much same for me.

I don't know if you guys talking about LoL or CSgo. But the CS:GO World Championships 2016 final match was playing by Turkey vs Argentina yesterday.

Turkey was getting rekt by Argentina at the beginning and then something happened and Turkey pushed hard to be winner! Here is those moments: https://youtu.be/0wmOBFC_EOI?t=39m43s

Well, Argentina played good. But 50.000$ goes to Turkey! Well done :D

Actually, Proleague doesn't mean much for SC II, so it isn't a nail in the coffin. It would be fatal for, say, Brood War, but not for LotV. :P

now with this plus the region lock many players wont be able to make a living, and it will make an impact on the GSL

To be honest, I don't really want to defend SC II. ;D I won't die of woe if it would really die. Unlike Brood War, SC II is grotesque and too... pop. And, after LotV release, there is no other strategy in TvT but tankivacs; battlecruisers and swarm hosts are never used, and carriers are replaced by tempests in 90% cases. But, nvm. I'll try to explain.

Proleague shutting down doesn't impact on Starcraft popularity outside of South Korea at all. After LotV release Starcraft popularity significantly raised in China, Europe and North America. As for South Korea, SC II hasn't ever been really popular there. Overwatch release was probably the most fatal strike to SC II popularity in SK (which is kinda surprising, as I can't stand it at all). And, the biggest Proleague sponsors - KT, SKT, CJ, MVP - aren't interested in global scene, they focus only on South Korea market. For example, have you seen/heard much about Hot6, their energetic drink, outside of South Korea? I don't think so, but it is very actively advertised on Proleague events. So, it is pretty much natural that they decided to give up SC II.

Yeah, Proleague has great psychological meaning, but there are a lot of other events, which are even more attractive, as in the last years Proleague was kinda separate from the other SC II world... Its collapse would be fatal for Brood War as there were almost no professional Brood War players outside of South Korea. What is really bad is the disbanding of the biggest and most significant teams. Well, SC II can be compared with chess: less players, less money, less popularity than, say, in football (LoL or DotA), but these games have small range of their loyal fans.

You're underestimating non-korean scene. :P It is pretty decent now, especially after LotV release.
I would enjoy it if Brood War is re-released. ;D But I don't believe it's really gonna happen. Yeah, unfortunately a lot of old good players sunk into oblivion now.

And they'll win again this year xd teams are doing 3 bans vs faker , allowing others lanes to continue pick their "best" even if u control others lanes and hold faker , damm still almost impossible , people have to admit he isn't human , a lot of job of skt this year come from faker plus skt doesn't fear to keep innovating all games
