Yes, using the polygonal boundaries has been suggested before and I still think it should be done. It would have sucked when we couldn't see the boundaries, but now there isn't really a good reason not to.

Maybe I'm missing something, but is there a reason why the boundaries lines are perpendicular in the examples so far? In Mia's suggestion, I could see getting bounced between the boundaries because they're somewhat close. If the boundaries don't have to be perpendicular, I could see making the boundary more closely follow the river in that example and many other places.

I made most of those with the NSA mapping reference on my mind, aka perpendicular mapping, just in case non perpendicular mapping isnt possible.

Although I would love and prefer that way of mapping if its possible.

Yes, boundaries that go along other directions than north-south or east-west don't work very well.

I would also like to see this part of LS accessible because Presidents, I myself, sometimes come speeding through the highway but get stopped by the boundary. Its not that nice since the escape would be difficult.

Looks like I made a fatal flaw in the SF map border expansion and got rekt by it today, you literally can't get out even with a bike if you fall off from the Palisadas Houses from the border, today as playing president I fell off in a FCR and couldnt escape towards north.  I tried to escape south and something even worse happened, I got sandwiched between the border and a 80 degree uphill wall, I couldnt even exit it midair due to slow speed and ultimately died due to constant collisions  in a already 450 HP bike.

I suggest to also expand the SF region from the west so not only the full water way route is available but also to avoid this poor mapping result in the future.

I updated the SF border plan suggestion a bit so that anybody can make a rough full lap around the airport and the whole runway is accessible. We'll blame aliens for suddenly getting repelled after the takeoff from the edge.

If the fallen tree Area becomes a issue just use another L shaped border to cut the corner and leave it out.

This can come in handy if player chooses to take a more cover based route to safety if he falls off near airport and needs longer time for takeoff or just wants to use the full runway.

Being the one who assisted with scripting the boundaries :D, I assure you that it is possible. Since it's been around two years already, I would like to perform some additional testing to make sure it will work fine.

P.S. Now you know that you should throw rotten vegetables at me if you don't like the polygonal boundaries. D:

For never he knows, what he ought to know,

Ah shet, I forgot to make one more edit to the suggestion. In regards to LS, this is rather a bit important since NorthWest-North regions are unrealistically restricted. I'd like to correct that as well, and also open up new viable routes to the northern regions.

LS Border suggestion V2

These solve the primary problems found as already marked in red region. The Richman areas are opened up. And all of the LS Vinewood region is accessible.

The Main LS Highway is opened up fully without a absurd pause and one can use that opened up region to flank from the right to the upper hills.

Similarly the western regions have been opened up to suit the water gameplay convenience. Should a president be stranded there, he can climb up to the FC regions, which has decent cover, and vehicles to make escape from and it also has a working petrol pump to spice things up. And with this the tunnels can be accessed from both sides. And can make a full loop with the FC Highways that connect into the LS-FC Bridge.

The Northwestern region corner has been expanded to reach a shore where the player can use to climb up to the Upper Hills of LS. I have made sure it doesn't leak into Blueberry and Red County Mainland too much.

Overall this sorta fully opens up the map and most part of Lost Santos accessible and fully explorable routes, which also is convenient to ground and boats.

Although it has more polygonal maps than the usual I suggest. But I believe this is good and will make LS feel more LS.

As for LV, at the time I forgot to make any suggestions for it.

Here, I'd like to open up the borders fully a bit so that Boats can actually make a comfortable travel rather than getting sandwiched terribly. As of right now the borders are too close to mainland and favour president getting squashed between border and areas that cannot be scaled and dying due to Water Timer.

The Southern Borders leak into the Northern Borders of LS a bit so people can climb up and escape into either the highways or the railway route. Alternatively this can be used to ambush Boats.

The Blue borders is just a extra suggestion to open up the mines. It doesn't get explored in WV and NSA due to Area69 and Ships. So this area gets left behind, while it has good potential in GM considering the various ramps, levels and covers and what not.
